Liz Mansfield is a PhD candidate in the Social Science and Health Division of the Dalla Lana Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Toronto, under the supervision of Dr. Joan Eakin. Her research interests include the sociological analysis of media communications, health and safety in small workplaces, and prevention policy and program evaluation in occupational health and safety.

Mansfield?s dissertation is a qualitative analysis of a safety campaign that engages personal accounts of serious workplace injuries and fatalities for remembrance and prevention. Of particular interest to Mansfield is the nature and effects of stakeholder participation in workplace health and safety initiatives. Her research explores how prevention practices are shaped by their structural and cultural settings.

Mansfield is currently involved in a RACWII project reviewing the literature on experience rating led by Dr. Emile Tompa and Dr. Ellen MacEachen. She is also participating in a qualitative project investigating temporary work agencies, an evaluation of a prevention education tool, and a mixed methods study investigating firm level safety performance changes.
